Melissa Mulligan, Owner
Melissa Mulligan has been coaching singers, musicians and songwriters for more than a decade. She works as the vocal coach for professional recording artists such as AJR, Hailey Knox, New Found Glory, Ellie DeSautels (from NBC's Rise) and many more, and currently serves as a vocal consultant for major labels and music industry professionals. Her students have signed to major record labels, toured the world, won platinum and gold records, performed on all the late night and day time talk shows, and entered prestigious music schools such as Berklee College of Music and the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU.
Mike Mangini, Producer, Mentor
Michael Mangini is a two time Grammy-winning and multi platinum-selling producer, songwriter, and musician. Mike has worked with The Jonas Brothers, Joss Stone, David Byrne, Digable Planet, The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Bruce Hornsby, Smash Mouth, Dionne Warwick, Five for Fighting, The Baha Men, Andy Grammer, AJR, Grace Weber, Diane Birch, Jillette Johnson, Hailey Knox, Elise LeGrow, Jackie Evancho, and many more in his 30+ years of successful work in this rapidly changing industry.
Coley O'Toole, Songwriter
Coley O’Toole is an accomplished songwriter/multi instrumentalist and has been performing in bands for two decades. Most notably, he is a member of the multi-platinum selling rock group We The Kings. In 2014 he produced their first full length acoustic album “Stripped.” He is also a contributing writer and founding member of the americana rock outfit Smoke Signals whose songs have been featured in hit television shows such as ABC’s “Parenthood” and the Showtime original series “Weeds.”
Production and Songwriting Coach Skip Glogan is the producer, writer, lead singer and multi-instrumentalist for his band Almost July, as well as a producer, co-writer and engineer for several others. He has been working with Melissa for more than five years and has been personally trained and mentored in production by Grammy-winner Mike Mangini, learning the ropes and learning to love the process! He worked with Melissa to design a holistic program specifically for students who want to write, release professional recordings, play in bands, collaborate, expand their music theory knowledge and improve their playing ability.
Katelyn Wilson is a Connecticut native who has been studying voice for 12 years. She first found her love for singing when she started studying with Melissa Mulligan and soon became an “MMVSer.” Katelyn then went on to study music and performance at Manhattanville College where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theatre. Katelyn coaches voice, musical theatre performance, as well as audition prep.
Casey Miko is a New York City based coach and performer. She is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a BA in Musical Theatre. Casey coaches Voice, Musical Theater Performance, and Audition Prep . Casey has studied voice for over 13 years with professionals in the world of musical theater & opera as well as rock recording artists. She has worked at highly respected theaters in and outside of the US.
Shayna Leigh is a New York City based singer/songwriter. She released her debut album "Drive" on Universal S-Curve in 2015 and is currently in the process of releasing her new EP "Disaster Artist." Shayna extensively studied both acting and musical theatre , earning a BFA in drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Shayna loves sharing her knowledge of how to navigate the ever changing landscape of the music industry.
Maggie is a performance and mindset coach, drawing from over 30 years of experience as an actress, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and director. She’s toured North America twice with the 1st national tours of Once and the 20th anniversary Broadway revival of Annie, and has been seen in regional theatres across the country as well as in NYC, where she recently made her Off-Broadway debut. As a contemporary recording artist, Maggie has performed in clubs across America from the Crooked Bar in LA to the Bitter End in NYC. Vocal Coach, Conductor and Choral Director Marianna Vagnini has been working as a vocal coach for over 30 years. Many of Marianna’s students have attended and graduated from a variety of music schools including Juilliard, Manhattan College, Berklee School of Music, Yale University, NYU Tisch, SUNY Purchase, Marymount Manhattan, and many more. Some of her students have gone on to perform on Broadway and opera houses throughout the United States. One of her former students is Melissa Mulligan, owner of MMVS and the Music Career Mastermind!
Heavily inspired by Major Lazer and Jack Ü, Wes is a producer and songwriter from Columbia, Missouri. Wes’ first official step into the "computer music" genre happened on July 12, 2016 featuring his instrumental track “Digital Flirt” and was soon followed by his first full and completely original single “Never Wanted You” featuring Cōver. While original material is certainly his focus, Wes also finds a creative niche remixing from time to time to embellish his expanding portfolio. Mike Orent is a Connecticut based producer, songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. A graduate of Northeastern University’s Music Industry program, Mike has played, written, and produced in a wide variety of musical projects over the years. Currently, Mike is focused on developing a project of original material, influenced by the guitar-based electronic freak-outs of Radiohead, and the smooth neo-soul production of Sampha. Here at MMVS, Mike will be coaching production in Logic and Pro Tools.
Talented, versatile and uniquely-determined, Matty has been working professionally as a multi-instrumentalist for 15+ years, has recorded on a countless number of albums, and has quickly become a recognized producer and songwriter. In 2008, he started music incubator, 825 Records, with Grammy-Winning engineer Butch Jones, delivering material from a wide-ranging roster of artists. He has landed worldwide broadcast licensing placements, developed dozens of independent artists from the ground-up and recorded and shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry including Adam Levine and Ty Taylor of Vintage Trouble. Matty’s expertise in artist development and extensive experience creating industry-lauded, educational tutorials on engineering and production provide him with a wealth of knowledge to the benefit of budding artists and producers alike.
Steve Walter is a photographer, graphic designer, brand consultant and videographer. His work includes developing corporate brands, graphic design for large and small businesses, fashion photography, event photography, music videos, live video shoots, head shots, social media consultations for recording artists, and more.
Father, husband and artist. Steve graduated with high honors and a degree in visual communication. Working as an art director at a marketing agency for almost a decade, he was able to work on campaigns and materials for brands like, Pepsi, Entenmanns, Thomas’, 1800 Tequila and Three Olives Vodka. After working as a designer he transitioned toward a freelance photo and video career maintained for the past 9 years. Working in various areas covering music, fashion, portraiture, product, advertising and weddings. A combination of the two backgrounds has allowed him to create some compelling imagery that in many ways combines the best of both worlds. A solid foundation of both studio and on-location photo and video methods, Steve uses the tools necessary to create visually impactful imagery that is not limited to any one method.
Steve has a passion for teaching and loves “talking shop”. His first teaching job, Steve was hired by the same school he had just graduated from in 2005. After working there for 2 years, he later gained formal training as an instructor by Apple Inc. where he trained employees and customers in-store about Apple software and hardware products for the better part of 6 years.
