Skip is the lead singer, songwriter, guitarist, pianist and producer for the band, Almost July, which has showcased across the country and just released new, self-produced material to critical acclaim. He designed a production program for MMVS that truly inspires singers, musicians and songwriters. In the first session, students immediately make connections about how the songs they love are made, and they see that it is achievable for them to do the same. Students are also encouraged to expand their knowledge of arranging and writing so they are producing and creating at a higher level as soon as possible. Skip helps students develop their skills in their platform of choice, using Garageband, Logic or Protools. MMVSers love Skip’s passion for music, his sense of humor and his strong belief that learning music should always be fun.
Chris is a New York-based singer, songwriter, producer and guitarist. Originally a student of Mel's, Chris attended NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in 2013. After training in production, performance, and the business side of the industry, Chris rejoined MMVS as a coach upon the realization that he loved teaching music as much as making it. In addition to helping write and arrange songs, Chris teaches how to record, produce and create music on computer platforms like Garageband and Logic. Throughout his career he's been passionate about the idea of the self-reliant musician: an artist who's able to understand and master every step of the music-making process, from writing your first song to mixing your own album. He currently resides in Brooklyn, tours around the northeast, and continues to make all kinds of noise.
